Meet Urva

Enter the world of Urva Patel, a modest painter who discovered her love for art over ten years ago. Starting as a simple hobby, painting became Urva's passion, guiding her on a journey of self-discovery through the world of creativity.

Ten years ago, Urva picked up a paintbrush for the first time, eager to explore the wonders of artistic expression. With curiosity and determination, she immersed herself in the art world, keen to learn and grow with each brushstroke.

Urva's early interest in painting animals with watercolours led her to join the Association of Animal Artists, where she found a supportive community that nurtured her talent. Urva also took up the role of committee member within the group, eager to contribute to its success.

Driven by a desire to broaden her horizons, Urva ventured into abstract painting with acrylics, and later explored the intricate art of portraiture using oils and coloured pencils. Each new technique was a humbling experience, teaching Urva the value of patience and perseverance in her artistic journey.

In 2023, Urva returned to her roots in animal painting, showcasing her work at exhibitions with the Association of Animal Artists and The Wildlife Art Society International. It was a rewarding experience to share her art with others, and Urva felt grateful for the opportunity to connect with fellow artists.

Joining the Walsall Society of Artists was another significant milestone for Urva, allowing her to exhibit her paintings at prestigious venues and connect with fellow artists.

In 2024, Urva initiated the Turner Study Series, a project where she is sharing her passion for the master's artistry with fellow enthusiasts, enriching the artistic community with her insights and discoveries. Additionally, she took the the role of Media Secretary for the Walsall Society of Artists, a responsibility she approached with humility and dedication. She saw it as an opportunity to give back to the artistic community that had welcomed her with open arms.

Artist Statement

Step into the heart of my artistic journey, where each brushstroke weaves a poetic tapestry of abstract landscapes, inviting you to explore worlds beyond mere visual representation.

My work, rendered in delicate watercolours, captures the essence of nature not as it appears to the eye, but as it resonates within the soul—profound, expressive, and deeply evocative.

My paintings are a dance of techniques—wet-in-wet, scraping, card swipe, dry brushing—each one a deliberate movement that mirrors the rhythm of poetry. These methods blend to create serene, Zen-like scenes that evoke the tranquillity and depth of untouched landscapes. Every canvas is an exploration of the natural world's harmony and chaos, rendered through my fascination with the brush and its meditative movements.

Why do I paint these abstract visions of nature?

It’s a reflection of my inner reality, a reality shaped by limited chances to wander the majestic terrains that inspire me. Every fleeting memory, every glimpse of beauty I've encountered, finds expression in the intricate interplay of colours and shapes that define my work.

Yet, my art transcends the boundaries of landscapes. It delves into the very core of human nature, echoing our innate longing for the unattainable and our ceaseless quest for the unknown.

Art, for me, is not merely a form of expression; it is a soulful journey, a reflection of unfulfilled desires and dreams waiting to be realized. Each brushstroke embodies the Zen spirit, inviting viewers to explore the depths of their own emotions and experiences through the lens of my art.

Step into my world, where imagination knows no bounds and reality merges seamlessly with fantasy. Let my paintings speak to you, inviting you to embrace the tranquillity of Zen and the profound beauty of the natural world. Through my poetic landscapes, may you find a space to pause, reflect, and dream.
